Bodies of work
A selection of the work. What follows is a small part of it, chosen rather than recent — new images go up through the week on Instagram, and everything we have made is in the vault.
Portraits built around the studio’s central object. A collar is not put on a woman here. It is asked for, and the asking is the subject.
Everyone is held by something. Some women prefer cold metal.
White, lace, candlelight, and a ceremony none of them intends to leave for. Women dressed for an audience that turns out to be each other.
They were dressed to be given away. They had their own ideas about to whom.
A woman travels east and finds the arrangements already in place: courtyards, kimono, green bathwater, and rules nobody troubles to explain to her.
She went to see the world. The world had arrangements already in place for women who arrive alone.
Candlelight and iron, at the far end of the road. The deciding has stopped, and what is left is the being held.
The bravest thing she ever did was stop being brave.
The same studio in ink and flat color. Bars, lanterns and back rooms, drawn fast rather than painted slow.
Three colours and a hard line. Some nights that is the whole of it.
The daily grid
New work appears on Instagram first, through the week, in the most restrained version it comes in. It is the easiest way to keep up, and it costs nothing.
Every series, complete
What runs above is four images from each. In the vault the series are complete and unfiltered, at the size they were made and yours to download — along with the studies, the variations, and everything we have never posted.
